Easter time is opera time. Especially at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, for the Easter season here is also our FESTTAGE season.  
 
Meaning “days of festivity”, the FESTTAGE have offered outstanding musical theatre and first-class concerts – with international stars for international audiences – since they were launched by Daniel Barenboim in 1996.  
 
Performances will be held for the second year now at the Schiller Theater as well as the Philharmonie. A special highlight will be the premiere of an exceptional work: Alban Berg’s opera »Lulu«, directed by the renowned Andrea Breth and with Mojca Erdmann in the title role. This eagerly anticipated production will be accompanied by two works of Richard Wagner: »Das Rheingold« and »Die Walkure« as the first and second parts of a new production of the »Ring« cycle. Daniel Barenboim will direct them – as well as three concerts at the Philharmonie. Two orchestras will take part: The Staatskapelle Berlin and the Filarmonica della Scala from Milan, including two magnificent soloists in Alisa Weilerstein and Elīna Garanča.
